ZERO Reportable Injuries in 2015

Alliance Source Testing, LLC (AST) completed the 2015 calendar year with ZERO reportable injuries. President and CFO, Ty Batchelor cited “attention to detail and focus on safety helped reach this important goal.” Considering the variety of hazards AST field team members encounter on a daily basis, this is a great achievement. Every facility has different safety considerations, and every task performed has the potential for team members to encounter hazards. With more than 45 field team members across six offices, coordinating a company-wide safety goal can be challenging.

“This didn’t happen by accident,” quipped Alabama Operations Manager Jeremy Hutchens. At the start of 2015 AST implemented a number of new programs to highlight an obsessive focus on safety. Each project starts with a “Safe Work Checklist” reviewed in the field before a single tool is lifted. Additionally, a daily “Tool Box Meeting” is held each morning at a job site where all team members identify potential hazards associated with the specific facility or tasks for the day. These hazards can cover anything from equipment to weather – the end result is all team members start the day by discussing safe work practices.

To supplement the field meetings, monthly safety training was administered through the Human Resources Department. A series of memos requiring participant feedback was implemented to share different safety concerns between offices and allow seamless integration of teams from multiple offices.

All AST employees receive annual Safety Council Training through the Association of Reciprocal Safety Councils (ARSC) Basic Orientation plus (BOP) and semi-annual Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid training. Any employees who may work at facilities with active mining also participate in regular Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) training administered by the US Department of Labor.
